Sentinel Storage Security Installation

Sentinel is the storage-specific security platform used by self storage operators across Australia and overseas. It handles the jobs a general alarm or access system was never designed for: hundreds of individual unit doors, customers coming and going at all hours, gates and roller doors that open on a PIN, and a facility that is often unmanned.

Inside Out Security installs and integrates Sentinel for storage facilities across Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. We handle the design, cabling, alarm panel, CCTV, gate motors and monitoring, and commission the whole site with Sentinel so it runs as one system.

What Sentinel does

• Keypad and PIN access. Defender keypads at the gate, entry doors and internal zones. Each customer has their own code, valid only while their account is current.
• Individual unit alarms. A door contact on every unit. A door opened without a matching PIN entry raises an alarm on that specific unit number.
• Gate and roller door control. Sentinel drives gate operators and roller door motors, with exit keypads and request-to-exit buttons where needed.
• Lighting control. Lights come on for the zone a customer is walking into and switch off behind them. Sentinel can also control lifts on multi-storey sites.
• Management software integration. Links to the storage management platform so move-ins, move-outs and overdue accounts update access automatically.
• Remote monitoring and reporting. Real-time site status and event history for the operator, from anywhere.

What we do as the installer

Sentinel supplies the platform. We make it work on your site.

• Design. We take the site plans, work out reader, keypad and door contact positions, and specify the alarm panel, CCTV and cabling to suit.
• Alarm integration. We install a Bosch Solution 6000 panel with enough inputs for every unit door, and tie it to the Sentinel controller so unit alarms, sirens and monitoring all work together.
• CCTV. IP cameras covering the gate, driveways and unit rows, recorded on site with remote viewing. Footage lets the monitoring centre verify an alarm before anyone is sent. See CCTV installation.
• Gates and rollers. Cabling and termination to gate motors and roller door operators, exit keypads, request-to-exit buttons and any conduit and trenching.
• Lighting control. Zone lighting driven by Sentinel access events, wired and programmed by us.
• Office and staff protection. Reeds and detectors for the office, and a duress button under the desk for staff.
• Monitoring. Permaconn 4G communicator reporting to a Grade A1 monitoring centre, with a response plan written for a storage site. See alarm monitoring.
• Commissioning. Every unit door tested with Sentinel’s team before handover, and all alarm documentation lodged with the monitoring centre.
• New builds. We work on site during construction alongside the builder, so cabling runs inside the structure and the system is live when the facility opens.
